Trained in Music (Piano) from the age of thirteen, qualifying in each grade up to and including  Grade 8.

On leaving school worked for three years in the Temperance Building Society, Worthing, in Administration.

Spent a year as a voluntary worker on Kibbutz Usha, near Haifa in Israel.

Returned to England 1965, trained as a Registered Nurse in Worthing District Hospital, Sussex.  After qualifying and prior to going on to train in Midwifery at Queen Charlotte’s Hospital, Goldhawk Road, London  I worked for a short while in the Operating Theatres of Worthing District Hospital

Following this I joined the Queen Alexanders Royal Army Nursing Corps as a Commissioned Officer.  I was posted to Millbank Military Hospital, Westminster, London where I remained for one year. Millbank was followed by postings to Cyprus and Germany.

In 1974 I left the Army  on marriage having achieved the rank of Captain.  I worked for 15 years as an Operating Theatre Manager at Frimley Park Hospital, Surrey and during 1988 took further qualifications at the Royal College of Nursing in London reading Occupational Health.

I then worked as Occupational Health Practitioner for the London Borough of Richmond later leaving to work for  Gillette, Reading.

On retirement I took an interest in painting following a six week stint whilst convalescing from foot surgery and have never looked back.

I enjoy painting with a passion and am always prepared to ‘push the envelope’ when it comes to experimental painting.  I work mainly in watercolour but I am in no way a purist. I believe that it is far more important to make your picture work by whatever means at your disposal.
